Simple explanation

In Americano you change partner and opponents every round. With a fixed score total, points are collected individually, so the final table shows personal rather than pair results.

Example

16 players, 4 courts, 7 rounds × 12 minutes. All 16 play each round and every round brings a new partner and new opponents.

Recommended setup

It runs smoothest with a player count divisible by four: 8, 12, 16, 20 or 24. Four players per court; anyone extra rests in rotation.

FAQ

Does the player count need to divide by four?
No. When there are more players than court slots, rests are balanced across rounds and standings are normalised only for an actual match deficit.
Can we play on time instead of points?
Yes. Choose either a fixed point target (e.g. 24) or a fixed round length.
Can a player join later?
Yes. A new player is included from the next round and receives no results for earlier rounds.
