Simple explanation

In Mexicano each next round is generated from the current standings: players with similar results meet, so matches get more balanced as the tournament goes on.

Example

12 players, 3 courts. After round one, places 1–4 play each other, places 5–8 play each other and so on.

Recommended setup

We recommend at least 8 players and 2 courts so the standings can move. Five to nine rounds keeps it to a single evening.

FAQ

When is the next round created?
As soon as every result of the previous round has been entered.
Do the standings rank by games or tournament points?
Choose total games scored or tournament points: 2 for a win, 1 for a draw and 0 for a loss. The selected rule drives both the standings and the next Mexicano pairings.
Can a result be corrected later?
Yes. Editing a result asks for confirmation and regenerates only the future rounds.
