What to bring to a tennis tournament
A tennis player should be ready for several matches, while the organiser should be ready for unexpected changes. A good checklist prevents delays before the first serve.
Player equipment
Choose tennis shoes suited to the court surface and bring a racket you already know. For a longer event, a spare racket—or at least a clear backup option—is sensible.
- water and a simple energy source
- a spare grip, dry top and wristband if needed
- for outdoor play: cap, sun protection and a weather layer
The organiser's backup plan
Keep spare balls, first aid, player contacts and a clear rule for lateness, retirement or injury. Decide the rule before the incident, not during the dispute.
Balls and courts
Use the same ball type and consider the surface and player level. Red, orange or green learning balls may be the right choice for children or beginners instead of full-speed balls.
